Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, Shaun T Hunter began playing music at just eleven years old; the first song he learned to play was I Fought The Law, the classic, anthemic, crashing slab of teenage rebellion. Flitting from his maternal Grandparent's home in England to his Mother's in Scotland, a fragmented upbringing after the death of his father at just 1 year of age may have served as a creative apprenticeship and desire to emotively express. From the age of three Shaun would perform unprompted to the family armed only with hairbrush and a wild imagination morphing the family kitchen into a dark jazz club of candles and cigarette smoke. Inheriting his Uncle's record collection Shaun's first love affair with a record was upon hearing Tea For The Tillerman by Cat Stevens. Early Beatles records, The Temptations and The Eagles Hotel California would bellow out for days, Shaun bellowing along with them. After being courted by the pop powers that be in previous musical incarnations Shaun finally found a home for his music. He had always been a songwriter, always had an affinity for great songs, great writers and always marvelled that no matter how contemporary you endeavour to sound you are only left with the song, and so he found himself comfortable in the organic acoustic scene and began releasing albums through Local Nobody Records and the Voiceprint distribution company. Critical praise came fast, Acoustic Magazine put him "...on top of his game", Borders Bookshops gave him Album of the Month, Livewire Radio awarded him the Album of the Year, The Leeds Independent Music Awards named him Acoustic Roots Artist of the Year and the scene started to buzz about his exceptionally emotive, honest and passionate live performances. Believing in real songs played by real people for real people, with music and the spoken word appreciated with a congruous silence and no false promises of shadowy A&R figures looming in the background, no talk of 'how do we market this'; Shaun's music and performances wear the elation of sharing something pure and intangible on their sleeve, with critics and fans alike holding their breath for his next recording.
